Something a little different…
For my latest painting I wanted to take a break from bugs and other little creatures. So I set up a little still life instead. I think I have had this in mind ever since I spent time working in the wine store last year. This is also the first full-scale water color I have done since middle school. I’m more a fan of acrylic painting, but I could learn to like this too…

I also think this little thumbnail watercolor sketch of my eye came out perfectly:

Walking on Water
The mysteries of the water bug revealed….
This was hand painted in acrylic, then imported into Adobe Illustrator to make the graphics. I studied the bug under the microscope and made tons of sketches and layouts until I came up with this:

colored pencil
Here are my 2 most recent colored pencil pieces on a drafting film called Duralene. I am very happy with both. =)
An abalone shell. Conquering iridescence.

And a peacock. Conquering insane patterning AND iridescence.

I think the abalone looks really good when its really far away…

So begins another semester and already I am permanently attached to my desk. This semester we begin our foray into the world of color. Here are a few sketches I have done so far:
